Well, spring is clearly upon us. Alta is closed but don’t dispair! Snowbird continues to run the tram, Chickadee and Little Cloud for approximately two more weeks. And here’s the thing, the great corn and festive atmosphere drives on with a base of 123” on a nearly 600” year. There’s still time my friends.
On the mountain for Cinco De Mayo Canyon Blog encountered Tristan and Matt skiing down Peruvian with a BBQ grill in hand. Where they intended to fire up was a question your correspondent failed to learn. But one couldn’t argue with their plan. Not one for excessive laboring, your correspondent and his lovely wife took a gamble on the crowds and repaired to El Chanate for dinner. Salmon taco special was killer, and the patio’s now open for summer.
On the tram in addition to desirable numbers (few) of skiers and boarders was the added bonus of the sounds of the Grateful Dead’s Don’t Let That Deal Go Down. The girl playing it was clearly under 30, which just goes to show, the Dead transcend all ages. And the breathing room and spring views completed the atmosphere.
Finally, in the plaza afternoon live music has arrived. Stopping at Christy Sports for a quick wax to defeat the slush, courtesy of Butter Supply Company (thanks Terry), Canyon Blog was pleasantly surprised to find local favorite Daniel Weldon on stage with his guitar. Drink, food, music and sunshine aplenty.
