"Excellent condo for serious skiers"
Very convenient to Alta and Snowbird. We skied Alta so didn't use the "ski out" to Snowbird, which is a little hidden at the end of the road and not for beginners. The interior is brand new, freshly renovated. The kitchen is modern and is laid out well. The living areas are comfortable and spacious. Fast internet, and you can access your Netflix account on the HDTV. Park your SUV in the garage and keep it out of the blizzard! The bathrooms are new and there seems to be plenty of hot water so you can all shower when you get back from skiing. The views across Little Cottonwood canyon are breathtaking. If you're not familiar with the area... Recommended primarily for intermediate and advanced skiers. Get 4wd SUV and if necessary rent chains. The canyon road can close during and after storms. Good for you, because you can ski the powder while everyone else is stuck at the base. They're serious when they tell you to bring ALL groceries. The is not even salt and pepper provided! So bring everything, and shop before you come up the canyon. As a side bonus, you have a front row to hearing the avalanche cannons going off, to get you even more excited to get out in the powder! We had only one minor issue with the hot water after a storm, and management fixed that promptly. All in all a fantastic experience.
Hello - and thank you for your review! Village at Sugarplum E has been beautifully renovated and we are delighted that your stay allowed you to enjoy it. Yes, those views are pretty amazing!
While it is totally true, that Alta and Snowbird are for serious skiers - there actually is plenty of great terrain and groomer runs for beginning skiers, too!. As a former ski instructor, I spent a lot of time on those beginning runs - so don't be fooled that only intermediate and advanced skiers can enjoy the beauty and snow of Alta!
Your comments about the road, SUV's and groceries are right on. Health department rules do not allow is to leave any food items in the condos. Though sometimes it happens that spices may remain from a previous stay - don't count on it. Having all your groceries makes it so much easier for you when we do have winter storms one after the other, as has been the case this winter!
Canyon Services appreciated the opportunity to host your stay and we hope you will return again and often!

"Great Location, Great Service"
Location: Sugarplum at Alta / Snowbird is hard to beat on the location front. A 2-minute free shuttle from the base of either resort, spectacular views across the canyon (including front-row seats for the hiker/skiers making first tracks), and all the comforts of home make this seemingly pricey option worth every penny. Service: Absolutely first rate - the folks at Canyon Services are all over it. Throughout the whole booking process they were responsive, on the ball, and great folks to talk to. They arranged discount tickets (the best deal in town), and when you're there the office is a 2-minute walk away and seemingly always staffed. Why not 5 stars: This is a great condo layout but frankly needs a bit of updating. If you think of it as your cottage home that you bought 20 years ago and re-decorated a bit 10 years ago, you'll get the idea. It's clean, functional, homey, and did I mention the location...?Advice: So here's the thing - when I am on a ski vacation I want to relax and ski. Get up in the morning, have a nice breakfast, and ski - not pack the car, get in the car, line up going up the canyon (this is a real thing!), find a parking spot... you get the idea. Buy your food on your way from the airport ("in the valley") and settle in. Don't expect much, if anything, in the way of local food or grocery - Alta is a skier's place, not a resort destination. Tidbits: Be a skier - only about 20% groomed runs, but the snow is out-of-this-world good, even when it hasn't snowed for a couple of weeks. If you have a couple of days, drive to Moab for red-rock canyons hiking and mountain biking (the guys at Poison Spider bikes are A-1). Make sure you get a 4x4 - hard to believe but not all the SUVs rented at SLC are 4x4 and the canyon road closures can give you sleepless nights if you're headed to the airport in the morning. And once you're there, forget about how much you paid (it is spent) and have fun - we have not regretted one minute or one penny!
Hi Dan and Gang - Thank you so much for this review! Your candid comments are so helpful to guests who are looking for places to stay and ski.
You will be pleased to know that The Village at Sugarplum E is being renovated this summer and we will pass your comments on to the owners. I'm sure the updates will bring right up to five stars.
You are so right about the line of traffic up and down the canyon - staying right there at Al;ta/Snowbird is the Best of all Worlds for skiers! We hope that summer and winter guests will take advantage of your suggestion hat they head to Moab for a day or two - it is magical country.
Thanks for all your suggestions to guests - much appreciated. We hope to see you again in the future when your travel plans include skiing or summer recreation.

Very well furnished and maintained unit. We never did figure out how to "ski in, ski out" from this unit because Alta and Snowbird make it so easy to drive to the slopes. Certainly "skiing out" would require a bit of a walk and I suspect "skiing in" would also!
Good Morning - Thank you for staying with Canyon Services and The Village at Sugarplum Unit E. We know you have lots of options to choose from, and we are delighted that the property met your expectations.
It is really convenient to drive to both Alta and Snowbird from this condo - or catch the free shuttle. Ski-in/ski-out is great, too - the Village at Sugarplum Office staff will be glad to show you the trails and explain how to get back and forth when you come stay with us again!
We hope your travel plans will include Alta in the future and that we will be able to serve you again soon!

"Nice place, but expensive - not quite ski in/out"
The unit was nice enough and had a pretty well-equipped kitchen. I believe it was listed as 2.5 bathrooms, but it's actually three. Two bathrooms have full (gigantic, jacuzzi-size) tubs with showers and the third has just a shower. The view of the canyon y'all is great. We had trouble with the WiFi at first, but the management helped us out. I highly recommend having a car -- this place is near _nothing_ and relying on the shuttles is a pain (there always seems to be a "mixup"). Also, while you can technically ski into and out of the unit, it's not a simple matter to do (especially if you're a beginner), and could be more trouble than it's worth, even though you're paying the premium for it.
We really thank you for your review and comments. It is helpful to other travelers to see what guests says about certain aspects of our properties.
We always try to make sure that each guest is told that the "Ski-in/out" access is by way of skier-made, Intermediate and above ability trails. Our on-site managers make every effort to make sure that guests know where the access points are located and to make access as easy as possible. Our units are not marketed as "on-slope" properties - but they are pretty easy access to both Alta and Snowbird. We are sorry to hear that you had issues with the Alta Shuttle - it is usually so very reliable and flexible!
Alta and Snowbird are located in a beautiful, steep granite canyon, and it is a winter sports paradise. That said - there is little else in the canyon. At the Snowbird Center and Cliff Lodge, you will find a variety of restaurants and a few shops, as well as an elite Spa. Alta is made up of ski lodges, day lodges, ski shops and the Shallow Shaft Restaurant. It is not a bustling ski resort area. We do often recommend that families with small children may way to have a rental car (4 wheel drive is required) for convenience.
The saying "Alta is for skiers" is so totally true. If it is "nightlife" and shopping that a guest is primarily interested in - there are other resorts that will fit that bill - but Little Cottonwood Canyon is a place to "get away from it all".
Come for the snow. Come for the relaxation. Come for the silence and pristine beauty of winter. We hope you will come back to stay with us again. You are so correct, staying at Alta/Snowbird is not inexpensive - but the value is in the quiet beauty and solitude of our little piece of heaven on earth.

The condo that we stayed in was exactly what we expected. Pros: Location ski on/ski off, good size, great property management staff, had everything we needed.Cons: very dated (but we knew that going in, and it wasn't a big deal), small TV (my guess 27").All and all a great place to stay, and we would absolutely come back.
We so thank you for your review, and all of us at Canyon Services are glad you had a good time! It is always our pleasure to help our guests have a great experience when they visit Alta and Snowbird. We are constantly working to keep these properties updated and will share your comments with the owners. We all hope to see you again soon!

"Nice place! Good Service!"
We had a great stay in a very clean and comfortable place. It is located about a 2 minute drive from alta and a 3 minute drive from Snowbird. It's an end unit, so the view was spectacular. Beds were very comfortable and furnishings were nice.Canyon Services did a good job. They were solicitous, friendly and responsive. They bought us groceries and stocked them for a nominal fee (though the groceries themselves were much more expensive than what we are used to, so we will likely scale this back in the future). They came within minutes to fix our TV and cleaned the unit mid-week.All in all a great stay!

"Adequate for those who do more skiing than living inside."
On the smaller size but adequate. No big hot tub but 2 large bath tubs with jets that made for very roomy showers too. The TV screen is small (42"?) and there was no wifi router on premises. We were told to use whatever we can pickup from the other areas. Which worked out fine. This is good place for the price.

This condo was very clean, easy to find on the website and overall a wonderful stay. The rook leaked but they took care of that very quickly. It was a bit tricky to get to the trails but once we figured that out it was no problem. We loved the living area and all the bedrooms were comfortable. We only had 4 people there but it seemed like it would still be comfortable with more people. I would definitely recommend this unit!
